Tikveško blago
Back in 1950., my grandfather Jozo Mrkalj, as a servant of aTurkish bey, in Koraće, a place along the Sava in Bosnian Posavina, started beekeeping. The famous Sava fisherman and boat maker, has been holding bees in the Posavina nature for 38 years. He also transferred the love for these small, lively creatures to his grandson.
Growing up in nature and playing with it, I was implanted with a green gene that kept pulling me and still pulling me to nature. Thanks to that and fleeing the city and the asphalt, we find location that meets our needs- Kopački rit. How my grandfather influenced me, the love he gave us is passed on to my two sons and wife who are actively involved in all my bee- related activities.
That green gene is deeply implanted into the roots of my entire family. At the very beginnings of organic production in Croatia, my brother Goran Gusak founded an eco farm „Orlov put“, located near the entrance to a protected nature park Kopački rit. He grows organic fruits, vegetables, herbs and farm animals.
